What a fantastic journey! The big pink bus has rolled to a stop in Atlantic Canada. Over the past two years, we travelled 33,000 kilometres, made 321 stops in 241 cities, towns and villages across the region. That’s like driving all the way across Canada FIVE times. Along the way, we counted more than 18,000 visitors to the bus. That doesn’t include everyone who saw us on the road, visited us online or saw stories on the local news.
We couldn’t have done it without you, our donors. Your support over the years made this public education campaign possible. Together with our Lead Partners (Atlantic Lottery, CIBC, Ganong Bros. Limited and Sobeys), provincial governments and media across Atlantic Canada, we have saved lives.
Last year a woman from Mount Pearl, NL visited the bus and learned how to be breast aware. She discovered her own breast cancer. So what’s the good news? This woman may have gone undiagnosed much longer, but by detecting her breast cancer earlier, she has a better chance of surviving. We heard from countless women who visited the Tour for the Cure and decided to book a mammogram for the first time.
Our big pink bus is no longer on the road, but we’ve already been working on our next education campaign. Stay tuned for updates or visit us at cbcf.org/atlantic anytime.
And if you’re eligible, remember to book your mammogram.
