Tour Blog

Join us on this year's trip across Atlantic Canada! We'll be posting regular updates as we visit more than 156 communities throughout the region this summer.

StFX

The first week of our university tour is coming to a close. Where better to spend the morning than on the beautiful campus of St.FX? We had a visit from 101.5 The Hawk. The reporter was really excited to step inside and learn about the Tour for the Cure. This past week has been a fantastic start to the Tour. Already we have received word that woman are booking mammograms as a direct result of visiting the Tour for the Cure bus. Survivors have thanked us for spreading the word. We are glad to know that already the Tour for the Cure is making a difference. Click here for photos and more information.

NSCC Pictou Campus

Within seconds of our arrival at NSCC Pictou our bus was flooded with visitors eager to see what we had on board. Dave, the Principal of the campus, came out to visit us and told us that he had personally encouraged all students and staff to take a moment to step aboard our big pink bus. We were blown away by the enthusiasm of the visitors. We welcomed the men of the plumbing program on the bus who asked some excellent questions. All in all our visit to NSCC Pictou had a “stellar” turnout - our busiest stop yet. Click here for photos and more information.

MSVU and South Shore Regional Hospital

We spent this morning visiting Mount Saint Vincent University. Students streamed on board eager for a study break and left with a new perspective on the importance of breast health. We definitely inspired more than a few young women to become breast aware. In the afternoon we headed off to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. Several staff members shared their excitement that we are educating Atlantic Canada about breast cancer. A few of our visitors had heard about the Tour for the Cure from family and friends, which means that the word is getting around that our big pink bus is on the road! NSCC Waterfron and Akerley Campuses

During our visit to the new NSCC Waterfront campus, we were inspired by the number of young people who were anxious to learn about breast health. Excited women of all ages made their way onto the bus. Some told us that they had seen the bus driving around HRM the day before and were excited to check us out. Near the end of the day, we had our first male visitor onboard. A highlight of our day, was watching the HMCS Halifax return from Haiti with their family and friends lining the wharves. SMU

Our first day out on the road! Our big pink bus came to life during our stop at Saint Mary’s University. The day ended all too soon but we are excited to be continuing our tour of HRM Universities and Colleges over the next few days. Stay tuned for pictures of upcoming stops and don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Twitter! Click here for photos and more information.

Kentville, NS

Next on the docket was Kentville. The town was named in 1826 as an honour to Queen Elizabeth's grandfather, Prince Albert, the Duke of Kent, who had visited the area in 1794. Kentville is the largest town in the Annapolis Valley.
