Corner Brook

Surviving breast cancer has given Joan, Marion, Mary and Mildred a whole new lease on life. These women are members of the Breast Friends support group that meets monthly in Corner Brook. They generously donated their time to volunteer with the Tour for the Cure during our stops at the Western Memorial Hospital, and Sobeys in Corner Brook. Visitors were impressed hear their personal survival stories which range from the very recent (from one year ago), to many years passed (from 48 years ago). One woman in particular boarded the bus having been through her own surgery only ten days previous. After being introduced to our Tour Champs she gladly exchanged contact information, grateful to have connected with a group of women who could support her through her experience.

Staff at Sobeys set up a table complete with pink cake, pink lemonade, and pink balloons, to encourage visitors to visit our bus
